Love is finding one person infinitely fascinating And so not an achievement my dear Rather a privilegeHi long time Sophie KinsellaMadeleine Wickam fan here I've been reading her books for close to a decade now; they are just the right amounts of tender cheese and that's a good thing so don't knock it to insert between my gritty crime novels and psychological thrillers I know many readers hate on the light and

Entertaining but not my favorite Sophie Kinsella I really like the premise of Surprise Me rather than the typical Kinsella premise of a single girl trying to get her life together and in doing so ultimately finds love we have a married couple worried that their marriage has gone stale While the premise was fun Surprise Me didn’t uite have the magic of some of Kinsella’s other booksAfter 10 years of marriag

45 laugh out loud stars 😂 🌟🌟🌟🌟5 Sophie Kinsella is one of my absolute favorite authors i’ve read every book in the Shopaholic Series and absolutely adored Becky throughout what I love so much about her books are her fabulous female MC’s and Sylvie was no exception strong relatable fun self deprecating and a little out of touch with reality i’ve read so many twisty thrillers as of late and

This is a well done novel that starts off with a light chick lit tone Sometimes you just need a book that has a humorous take on life and love After Dan and Sylvie who have been together for ten years since they were twenty two are told by their doctor they can each live to be one hundred they have mutual breakdowns thinking about how they

Surprise Me

Ther and panic sets in They never expected ‘until death do us part’ to mean seven decadesIn the name of marriage survival they uickly concoct a plan to keep their relationship fresh and exciting they will create little surprises for each other so that their extended years together will never become boring. Well this is a surprising book Bad pun very much intendedI feel like if this is your first ever Sophie Kinsella read you should pick another one of her stories I would point you towards her Confessions of a Shopaholic series first so you become acuainted with her humour and styleBecause this book is crazy even to fans of Sophie Kinsella so I can t begin to imagine what people who know nothing about this author will think The concept isn t however crazy at all It s actually smart Sylvie and Dan who have been together for ten years learn that they will have another sixty eight years together This freaks them out because they worry they will bore each other to death and lose the magic that exists between them todaySo they come up with a rich people s solution surprise each other every day to keep the magic alive I say rich people s solution since what happens is that they mostly just buy stuff for each other Hey they can afford it Surprises don t have to be about material new objectspets but well Sylvie and Dan have a skewed understanding of what beautiful surprises areAnd yet I did like the surprises Sophie Kinsella didn t exactly catch me unawares by writing this book She always did like to try new things and explore different humorous situations I adore the way she manages to shift tones from serious to light Her books entertain but they also make you feel contemplative about the world around you and your own life This is not her best work I ll admit Certain chapters are way too silly and exaggerated plus I never was able to connect to Dan but Sylvie is a character I enjoyed reading about She s not so different from the author s previous heroines and again I really do recommend it to those who are already familiar with Ms Kinsella Blog Youtube Twitter Instagram Google Bloglovin
